1. Lobsang Ranpas was a Tibetan monk who had to escape when the Chinese invaded and he wrote a book called ‘The Third Eye’. It’s a trashy little novel which isn’t really of any literary worth but I just became quite obsessed with it. I love the idea of Tibet and I’ve wanted to go there. I don’t really know why, it’s just one of those things. Some people like dinosaurs, some like motorbikes. I like Tibet. I suppose it’s to do with having hippy parents as well, my mum went there recently and she absolutely loved it. But there’s a good deal of duality about it, it is the spiritual centre of the entire earth. One day I’ll go.

    Damon Albarn, 1993 (via beach-coma)

Oh man, I am laughing SO hard right now.

First of all, the guy who wrote the book “The Third Eye” was actually a British dude who believes that he fell out of an apple tree and a Tibetan monk’s spirit entered his body.

So yeah, no literary worth whatsoever unless you’re studying the fucked up ways that the West treats Tibet as “Shangri-la.” There’s so much wrong with Albarn’s statement. He clearly has no idea what he’s talking about, if he even said this.
