Why isn’t there a White Entertainment Television

During the upcoming Black History Month, this will be yet another question asked. So, let’s answer it now.

First, I’d like to address the reason it was started in the first place. This is going to be a shocker so prepare yourselves…Black people (or any PoC for that matter) were not being represented on television. Yep, that’s it. That’s the whole story.

Second, I’d like to address the lack of whiteness on television. White people have every right to be upset about the TV channels that focus on People of Color. In some areas of the country, there are as many as four. Oh sure there are other channels that show a lot of white people but those channels aren’t CALLED ”White Folk Network.” 

Third, I’d like to give you a handy dandy guide. Now, this is likely different from region to region but I am going to provide actual proof that black people are just getting to much attention on television. Don’t worry, I won’t point out that we aren’t represented in advertising. I won’t point out that even on those evil black networks the advertising is at least 80% white, if not more. That isn’t important. I mean, why wouldn’t it be white? White is right.

For your convenience, I have bolded the channels that could be considered “People of Color Channels.” Oh and no, I won’t be adding the Latino or Indian channels because it COSTS EXTRA to be that kind of brown. 

The list isn’t in order. It was broken up into tears. I left it unchanged. Okay, let’s get started!

This isn’t my local line up so there are a few channels there that I’ve never heard of. Also, it looks like a couple of the channels are repeats but I left them in anyway because it actually helped to give a few more channels dedicated to PoC. See, I am trying to help you racists!

This list is around 300 channels long and on this list there are EIGHTEEN channels that weren’t (in theory) white dominant. Since I am not familiar with all of the channels, I may have missed one that was for PoC so I will throw in an extra 2 channels just to cover any errors.

That would mean TWENTY channels out of THREE HUNDRED. In addition to that, almost every channel that is bold has an excessive amount of either white programming, white advertising or white people within the different tv shows.

What were you saying about “White Entertainment Television?” I think you meant to say “Television IS White Entertainment.” 

PS- If you really want to talk “Fair,” should I highlight the channels that are all white? Yes, there ARE several?
